Loan Requests
All loan requests should be sent to herbarium@sebs.rutgers.edu, addressed to the relevant person:
For all collections (except the mycological collection, but including lichens), send requests to the Director, Dr. Lena Struwe (lena.struwe@rutgers.edu);
For mycological loan requests, send requests to the Mycological Curator, Dr. James White (james.f.white@rutgers.edu).
Loan requests must include the following information:
Professional affiliation of borrower: Physical loans are made only to herbaria that are listed in Index Herbariorum. Give the name of the person who is going to study the specimens, their status (faculty, staff, visiting research, etc.) and in the case of students, the name of the supervisor for the student.
Brief description of your research, and the importance of including CHRB specimens. If destructive sampling is necessary, it needs to be approved in advance. Please include information pertaining to how you will be conducting your sampling and why destructive sampling is necessary for the work.
List full binomials of all requested taxa (including synonyms where applicable), the geographic area from which you want specimens, or the corresponding barcodes/ catalog numbers when applicable (these can be located through online collection portals, see Collections for more information).
All loans are expected to be annotated with the correct and currently accepted name using archival materials. Please attach annotations before returning. Loan requests are made for one year, if an extension or longer period is needed please request this. Loans may not be transferred to another institution without prior approval, and can be recalled by Chrysler Herbarium at our discretion.
