The Rutgers Mycological Collections contains just under 35,000 specimens, many of historical value and part of exsiccatae sets. Parts of the collection have been accessioned as the Rutgers Plant Pathology Herbarium (RUTPP), and those that are vouchered by the Rutgers Plant Pathology Department at Rutgers are still assigned RUTPP numbers. The fungal specimens in this collection are primarily micro-fungi and plant pathogens.
Mycological specimens are unmounted and stored in envelopes and boxes in storage drawers. The collection is organized alphabetically by genus, and alphabetically by species within each genus. The front labels of all envelopes and in some cases the inner labels have been photographed. The specimen material was not captured during imaging, therefore an in-person visit is required to see the actual specimens or additional photographs may be requested.
