Chrysler Herbarium’s Lichen collection contains over 3,000 specimens, most of them unicate and from North America. Over half of the specimens were collected by botanist Erica Frank between 1960 and 1991. Dennis Waters and Natalie Howe have contributed many contemporary collections from the northeastern United States.
Lichen specimens are unmounted (although some are mounted to cardstock) and stored in upright envelopes in storage drawers. The collection is organized alphabetically by genus, and alphabetically by species within each genus. Only the front of all envelopes and their labels for all lichen specimens have been photographed, so to see the actual specimens an in-person visit is needed or additional photographs may be requested.
